Suburban Virginia schools have been segregated for future generations, in sight of the Washington Monument over the river in the nation's capital. A black and a white high school are closed and the students sent to TC Williams High School under the mandate of the federal integration. Annual football team where the man hired to coach the Black school is made head coach of the highly successful white coach, seen through the eyes. Based on actual events in 1971, the boys and the adults learn to depend on and trust each other as a symbol of the community to join it. |
